The Ins And Outs Of Coping With Allergies

Americans spend a great deal of time outside, and roughly half of us suffer from allergies. Those are tough statistics. It is far from impossible to enjoy life while dealing with an allergy problem. There are a few handy tips outlined below that can make it easier.

If you suffer from any allergies, be sure to keep air-filters and air ducts clean throughout the year. They will harbor allergy inducing particles like pollen, and may recirculate them in your breathing air. A few times a year, take them out and clean them according to the manufacturer's instructions.

To minimize dust in your environment, clean with microfiber cloths, mop heads, and other tools. Unlike cotton cloths, microfiber cleaning cloths have a slight electrostatic charge, that enables them to grab onto dust particles. Rather than being spread around the room, dust particles stick tight, maximizing your cleaning power.

If your home is carpeted throughout, consider upgrading your vacuum cleaner. Ideally, your vacuum should feature one or more HEPA or small particle filters. These heavy-duty filters are far superior to older models that catch only some of the dust, dander and other allergens that lurk in your carpet or rugs.

If you have allergies, try to eliminate the trigger that bothers you most. If dust triggers allergies, dust as much as possible. If pets are your issue, then think about re-homing them or make sure they are clean and well groomed at all times. Vacuuming and dusting will also help with pet dander.

As previously stated, while we spend a lot of time outside, many of us have some kind of allergy. Whether you struggle with allergies to pollen, spores, pet dander or others, by now you should have a better idea of what you can do to live your life to its fullest.
